Diane Nukuri is a three-time Olympian, elite distance runner, and passionate coach dedicated to helping athletes unlock their potential. Born in Burundi, Diane’s journey to the world stage is one of resilience and triumph against all the odds. She represented her homeland at just 15 years old in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

After being granted asylum in Canada, Diane continued pursuing her education and running dreams, earning a scholarship to the University of Iowa. There, she became a two-time NCAA All-American and later competed professionally for over a decade.

She set a 5km personal best of 15:34, and broke the Burundian national records in the 10,000m (31min 28.69sec), half marathon (1hr 9min 12sec) and marathon (2:27:50). She still holds the half marathon and marathon national records today.

Diane has raced in elite competitions worldwide, including:

Diane personifies strength, consistency, and mental toughness, drawing from her own story of perseverance through the challenges of poverty, life, and competing at the highest levels of elite marathon running. Now a coach for RunSohFast Academy, Diane is committed to guiding runners of all levels toward their goals with the same determination that defined her career.

Off the roads, Diane is an advocate for women’s sports, particularly in her home nation of Burundi, and enjoys mentoring runners of all ages.
